Jessica Miller, OTR/L, CBIS
Occupational Therapist, Brain Injury Specialist, and Neuro OT Mentor
With more than 20 years experience in the neuro field, working in inpatient, outpatient, acute, home health, and community re-entry programs, I am a verifiable neuro nerd. Woven into my career has been lots of educating (as a lab instructor, adjunct professor, and guest lecturer in multiple Occupational Therapy universities...as well as a provider of formal continuing education), mentoring (as a fieldwork educator and professional mentor), and entrepreneur-ing - learning to run an OT business! As a Certified Brain Injury Specialist, I've chosen a career that lets me learn more and more about about helping folks with neuro challenges. I have been the lead OT in multiple Day Treatment Programs and started a private practice working with adults with neuro challenges in their homes and communities. And when I'm not OT-ing, you can find me parenting my teen (#swimmom), walking Izzi (our Italian greyhound), painting, singing, dancing, paddleboarding or communing with the trees!
A Mentor in Your Pocket - What to Expect
After you purchase your first Voice Note Mentoring Support, you will receive a welcome email explaining how to use WhatsApp to begin your support. Then you'll head to WhatsApp and leave Jessica an introductory message sharing about yourself - where you are in the world, what setting you're in, and a little about who you are when you aren't OT-ing (optional :) This first message does NOT count towards your 45 minutes. This is meeting each other as humans. I'll respond in kind :) Then whenever you need to talk through one of your patients, an issue at work, need treatment or goal ideas, documentation difficulties, or general support (cuz let's face it, OT'ing is hard!), you'll just leave me a voice message telling me about it. Then I will listen and respond within 1-2 business days (often sooner). We can chat asynchronously back and forth on that one topic, or if you got the support you needed, you can message later in the week or month when something else pops up! --- We will always provide the best mentorship we can, rooted in evidence and a lifetime of OT experience. And we acknowledge healthcare is a "practice."
